What is Lymphedema?
Clear information for patients, caregivers and referral partners.
When Lymph fluid cannot drain properly
Lymphedema is chronic swelling caused by the buildup of lymphatic fluid in body tissues. It often affects an arm or leg, but can also affect the hands, feet, trunk, head or neck. Although there is no cure, a tailored treatment plan can help manage swelling and improve day-to-day comfort and function.

- Professional measurements: We measure the affected area and help determine the ordered size and configuration.
-
Standard or custom fit: Some patients can use ready-to-wear products; others need individually sized garments.
-
Daytime and nighttime use: Different designs may be prescribed for wearing during the day or while resting
-
Education and follow-up: We review fit, wear, care and how to raise concerns with the care team.
-
Safe Use Reminder: Compression strength and wearing schedule should follow a treating clinician’s advice. Ask your care team before changing use, especially if you have poor arterial circulation, a suspected blood clot, new skin breakdown, severe pain or infection
